Nestled in the heart of Centro, just off 30 Avenida Nte., this small spot offers up a slice of authentic Mexican street food in a casual, unpretentious setting. The focus here is on birria and tacos that carry rich, soulful flavors without fuss. Visitors often come for the hearty tacos dorados and the satisfying consommé that accompanies them, finding both generous in portion and gentle on the wallet.
The atmosphere is cosy and slightly bustling, with a handful of tables that fill steadily but rarely hold up the flow. It’s a welcoming place where solo diners, families, and groups — including tourists and university students — comfortably gather. Though the space can get warm, ceiling fans hum quietly, lending a simple relief without interrupting the vibe. Accessibility is thoughtfully considered, with options for wheelchair users and parking nearby.
Cash is the only accepted payment method here, so it’s best to come prepared. The service is friendly and straightforward, matching the easygoing feel of the spot. Whether stopping by for a quick bite or settling in for a casual breakfast, lunch, or dinner, many appreciate the genuine flavors and the understated charm that this local favorite brings to Playa del Carmen’s lively food scene.

"The service and wait time can get pretty bad but you will enjoy the food."
"I ordered a regular taco and 2 tacos dorados which came w cheese."
"This place was yummy, and the workers were super friendly."
4 A tiny Mexican street food gem! The tortillas are bursting with flavor, and the value for money is unbeatable. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for authentic Mexican soul food. Don’t miss out on this one!
5 No wait for table they also have bathroom if needed. Was it good? Yes very good! Slightly over priced, spent $15 USD for two people. It’s also VERY hot inside but they have fans going.
5 We ordered the tacos dorados and the soft tacos with consommé and both were delicious! The birria tacos were excellent and great value for money. Just be aware that they only accept cash.
5 fellow whites, if you go here, please don’t mess with the vibe!!!! AMAZING tacos. Great service. Bourdain-like hole in the wall. Don’t tell instagram just eat, tip generously, and get out. You won’t regret it!
5 Whenever I‘m looking for an authentic place to try when I‘m hungry, I go away from the hot spots, and this place was one of my favorites and pretty much didn’t disappoint. I came here everyday since I discovered it while I‘m in Playa del carmen. The place is tiny, a small business that still keeps their authenticity. The food is fantastic, especially the Birria. The staff are so friendly. Definitely recommend it and will come here again everytime I‘m in Playa
5 I went to three birria places in one day and this was my favorite. I felt the tacos had the best flavor and taste and I like the condiment selection on the tables.
5 La Birria de la 30, WOW! I tried their birria with cheese and the homemade consommé… just wow. Absolutely to die for! Super flavorful, tender, and comforting. One of the best birrias I’ve ever had in Playa. A must-try if you love real, rich, authentic flavors!
5 Man, this place is my JAM!! The berrea tacos are so flavorful! I had 2 Dorado (crispy) tacos and 1 Suave (soft) taco and shared an horhata withy wife. Amazing!! They are pretty simple tacos with a delicious chopped beef, cheese, onions and cilantro and there are multiple options of mild to hot sauces at the table. All were good and added to the flavor. I honestly felt like I could have eaten more than the 3 I had but at the same time that was plenty to fill me up. Everything cost 189 pesos (basically 10 bucks usd) plus a nice tip because you have to support a gem like this. It is very much a small hole in the wall but do not let that hinder you. Honestly the best tacos I've had down here and I stayed for 2 months. It was great and I plan to go again soon!
Many visitors recommend the birria tacos, tacos dorados, and soft tacos served with consommé for a true taste of authentic Mexican street food.
You can enjoy both—whether you want a quick bite or a casual sit-down, the cozy and casual atmosphere fits either style.
The place tends to have no wait for tables, but since it’s small and popular, visiting outside typical meal rush hours can make for a more relaxed experience.
