Set just off Avenida 30 in the heart of Playa del Carmen’s Centro, this spot offers a genuinely local vibe that’s cozy and a little tucked away. It’s a small, casual space where the focus is clearly on delivering authentic Mexican flavors, especially through their birria and a variety of tacos, accompanied by consommé. The atmosphere can get quite warm inside, but the fans help keep things comfortable enough for a quick bite or a relaxed meal.
The place attracts a mix of college students, families, and groups looking for honest, flavorful food without the fuss. It’s a cash-only establishment with no reservations, which keeps things straightforward but might require a bit of patience during busy times. Free street parking is nearby, adding a bit of convenience for those arriving by car.
Expect traditional Mexican street food served with simple table service in a setting that’s quiet and casual, yet trendy enough to draw in tourists interested in a more local experience. Despite limited accessibility, the friendly staff and unpretentious environment make it a welcoming spot for those who value genuine flavors over polished presentation.

"The service and wait time can get pretty bad but you will enjoy the food."
"I ordered a regular taco and 2 tacos dorados which came w cheese."
"This place was yummy, and the workers were super friendly."
4 A tiny Mexican street food gem! The tortillas are bursting with flavor, and the value for money is unbeatable. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for authentic Mexican soul food. Don’t miss out on this one!
5 No wait for table they also have bathroom if needed. Was it good? Yes very good! Slightly over priced, spent $15 USD for two people. It’s also VERY hot inside but they have fans going.
5 We ordered the tacos dorados and the soft tacos with consommé and both were delicious! The birria tacos were excellent and great value for money. Just be aware that they only accept cash.
5 fellow whites, if you go here, please don’t mess with the vibe!!!! AMAZING tacos. Great service. Bourdain-like hole in the wall. Don’t tell instagram just eat, tip generously, and get out. You won’t regret it!
5 Whenever I‘m looking for an authentic place to try when I‘m hungry, I go away from the hot spots, and this place was one of my favorites and pretty much didn’t disappoint. I came here everyday since I discovered it while I‘m in Playa del carmen. The place is tiny, a small business that still keeps their authenticity. The food is fantastic, especially the Birria. The staff are so friendly. Definitely recommend it and will come here again everytime I‘m in Playa
5 I went to three birria places in one day and this was my favorite. I felt the tacos had the best flavor and taste and I like the condiment selection on the tables.
5 La Birria de la 30, WOW! I tried their birria with cheese and the homemade consommé… just wow. Absolutely to die for! Super flavorful, tender, and comforting. One of the best birrias I’ve ever had in Playa. A must-try if you love real, rich, authentic flavors!
5 Man, this place is my JAM!! The berrea tacos are so flavorful! I had 2 Dorado (crispy) tacos and 1 Suave (soft) taco and shared an horhata withy wife. Amazing!! They are pretty simple tacos with a delicious chopped beef, cheese, onions and cilantro and there are multiple options of mild to hot sauces at the table. All were good and added to the flavor. I honestly felt like I could have eaten more than the 3 I had but at the same time that was plenty to fill me up. Everything cost 189 pesos (basically 10 bucks usd) plus a nice tip because you have to support a gem like this. It is very much a small hole in the wall but do not let that hinder you. Honestly the best tacos I've had down here and I stayed for 2 months. It was great and I plan to go again soon!
The birria tacos are highly recommended, along with tacos dorados and soft tacos served with consommé.
It’s great for both a quick bite and a casual sit-down meal in a cozy, trendy setting.
The place is usually not busy and you rarely have to wait for a table.
Yes, the restaurant is family-friendly and suits groups as well as solo diners.
They only accept cash and unfortunately have no wheelchair accessible entrance, seating, or parking.
